Before the age of 9, life for Teresa Tarpley was a blur. Moving away from the projects in Fort Worth, Texas didn't make her life better. In fact, that's when the violence began. Pushed to the background in the shadow of her older brother, depression plagued her from an early age. Rejected and desperate for love and acceptance, she made choices that eventually led to a downward spiral of drugs, sex and abuse. When her third child was born addicted to crack, CPS got involved. Something had to change. But would she have the strength to finally end the mess she'd made and turn her life around?
HeartBroken tells the story of Minister Teresa Tarpley. A difficult childhood left her looking for acceptance and love. She found acceptance with the wrong crowd of friends. Love eluded her until she realized only God provided the source of true unconditional love and more importantly how to love herself.
In a life of drugs, prostitution, continued rejection and pain caused by her mother, Teresa learned to forgive and now takes care of her aging mother who suffers with dementia. She chooses to honor her mother and forgive the past. Recognized by Gov. Rick Perry for her work in the community, Teresa tells her story to others hoping to help them recover from their broken hearts and move forward into the destiny God ordained for each of them.
